The DZOFILM Octopus Adapter for PL Lens to E Mount Camera is a mechanical lens mount adapter designed to connect PL-mount cinema lenses to Sony E-mount camera bodies.
It is useful for productions working with Sony E-mount cameras that want to use PL cinema lenses, such as cine primes, zooms or other compatible professional lens packages. The adapter provides a physical PL-to-E mount conversion without electronic lens communication, making it best suited to manual cinema lenses with manual focus and iris control. B&H lists the PL-to-E version as having no electronic communication.
DZOFILM’s Octopus adapter range is built around precise machining and tight tolerance control. The official DZOFILM page states a tolerance of ±0.01mm, with precise back flange distance, no back flange adjustment required, and accurate infinity focus.
The adapter uses an active-locking design intended to reduce play, gaps or wobble between lens and camera body. It also features internal flocking to reduce unwanted reflections inside the adapter barrel, helping maintain a cleaner optical path when working with PL lenses on E-mount cameras.
For heavier lenses, the adapter includes a 1/4-inch support foot, allowing the lens/adapter load to be supported through rods or a rigging plate rather than relying entirely on the camera’s E-mount. This is especially important when using larger PL lenses on compact Sony mirrorless or cinema bodies.
