The ARRI ARRILITE 2000 Plus is a professional 2,000W tungsten open-face lamphead, commonly referred to on set as a 2K Blonde.
Designed for film, television, studio and location production, it provides a strong 3200K tungsten source suited to bounce, diffusion, broad fill, background lighting, window effects and general high-output tungsten lighting. Unlike a Fresnel, the ARRILITE 2000 Plus uses an open-face design with a parabolic facetted MAX Technology reflector, giving a broad, punchy source that is often shaped using barndoors, scrims, flags, diffusion or bounce material.
ARRI describes the ARRILITE 2000 Plus as a redesigned version of the traditional ARRILITE 2000, with improved light efficiency, better light distribution, a more compact aluminium housing, True Blue disc brake technology and a heat-proof rear handle for positioning. The fixture also allows tool-free lamp changes, with the door opening in a similar manner to the ARRI M18.
The unit uses a 2000W FEX lamp for 230V operation and is externally dimmable from 0–100% when used with a suitable dimming system. It mounts via a standard 16mm / 5/8-inch socket and accepts 254mm / 10-inch barndoors and scrims.
As a hot-running tungsten lamphead, the ARRILITE 2000 Plus should be treated as a professional production fixture. ARRI’s manual states that it is intended for professional use in dry environments, has IP20 protection, and should be operated by qualified persons. The manual also specifies minimum safety distances, heat/UV warnings, and the requirement to operate the lamphead only with the complete enclosure and UV protection glass in place.
