Metabones EF to E Mount Smart Adapter

The Metabones Canon EF Lens to Sony E Mount T Smart Adapter Mark IV is an electronic lens mount adapter for using Canon EF and EF-S lenses on Sony E-mount camera bodies.

Unlike a Speed Booster, this adapter is designed as a direct EF-to-E mount conversion and does not provide focal reduction. It is useful for Sony E-mount camera users who want to use Canon EF stills lenses, selected EF-S lenses or compatible EF-mount cinema lenses on Sony bodies such as the a7 series, FS5, FS7 and other supported E-mount cameras.

The adapter supports electronic aperture control from the camera body, EXIF data transmission, optical image stabilisation on supported lenses, electronic manual focusing on compatible EF lenses, and autofocus functionality depending on the camera body, lens, firmware and shooting mode. Metabones also lists support for smooth iris with many later Canon, Tamron and Sigma lenses.

For video production, this can be useful when adapting Canon EF glass to Sony E-mount cameras such as the FS5, FS7, FX3, a7S III or other compatible Sony bodies. The adapter also includes a detachable tripod foot and an internally flocked opening to help reduce reflections.

As with all electronic lens adapters, performance varies by lens and camera combination. Autofocus, stabilisation, iris behaviour, metadata and lens-control features should be tested before critical production use.
