The Sony FX3 is a compact full-frame Cinema Line camera designed for professional film, documentary, commercial, interview, event and handheld video production.
Built around a 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ XR processing, the FX3 combines the image quality and low-light performance of Sony’s full-frame mirrorless cameras with a more video-focused cinema-style body. It is especially useful for solo operators, gimbal work, handheld shooting, compact rig builds and productions that need a small but capable cinema camera.
For recording, the FX3 supports XAVC HS, XAVC S, XAVC S-I and XAVC S-I DCI formats, including 4K recording up to 119.88p / 100p and 10-bit 4:2:2 options. It also supports S-Cinetone for pleasing in-camera colour, S-Log3 with 15+ stops of latitude, HLG workflows and 16-bit RAW output via full-size HDMI to compatible external recorders.
The FX3 also includes Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF system, with phase-detection autofocus, Real-time Eye AF for people in movie mode, and focus tools useful for solo shooting. It has 5-axis in-body stabilisation with Active Mode for handheld video, dual CFexpress Type A / SD card slots, a full-size HDMI output, USB-C power support and a built-in cooling fan for extended recording.
The included XLR handle unit gives the camera two full-size XLR/TRS inputs with line, mic and +48V phantom power options, making the FX3 a strong compact option for professional sync-sound workflows, interviews and documentary shooting.
