The ARRI Daylight Compact 1200 HMI is a professional 1.2kW daylight Fresnel designed for film, television, commercial and location lighting work.
As part of ARRI’s Compact Daylight range, the fixture is built around a daylight HMI lamphead with a Fresnel lens, giving a focusable beam with strong output and controlled spread. It is well suited to exterior daylight fill, window punch-through, harder key light, backlight, bounce setups and diffusion-based lighting arrangements where a traditional daylight source is preferred over LED.
ARRI’s Compact documentation lists the 1200W model with a 175mm lens, 9kg lamphead weight and 440 x 340 x 295mm lamphead dimensions. The published photometric data gives spot and flood readings at 4m, 6m and 8m, with a beam range listed from 6° to 58°.
The lamphead requires a compatible HMI ballast and head-to-ballast cable; it should not be treated as a direct mains-powered fixture. ARRI’s operating instructions state that the lamphead is connected to the ballast output, and the ballast is then used to power the fixture.
As a legacy HMI source, this fixture is best suited to productions with appropriate crew, safe power distribution, compatible cabling and proper HMI handling procedures. It should be operated with the correct lamp, ballast and accessories, with attention to heat, UV, cool-down time, safe distances, stand loading and cable routing. ARRI’s manual lists IP23 protection class, a 45°C maximum ambient temperature and specific minimum distances from flammable objects and illuminated surfaces for the Compact 1200.
