Hyundai 6.6kW Generator
The Hyundai HY6500SEi is a 6.6kW petrol inverter generator for temporary film production power, offering pure sine wave output, 230V socket options, remote/electric start, ECO mode and wheeled transport for small location setups and mobile unit power.
Generator hire is supplied for competent film, production, event and temporary power use only. The hirer is responsible for ensuring that the generator is suitable for their intended use, that the total electrical load does not exceed the rated output of the generator, and that all equipment connected to it is used safely and appropriately. Please read the important information below for further safety disclaimers.

The Hyundai HY6500SEi is a portable petrol inverter generator suited to temporary location power for film, video, event and small production setups where mains access is unavailable.
With a maximum output of 6.6kW and a continuous output rating of 6.0kW, it can support a range of lower-to-mid power production equipment, including LED lighting, monitors, battery chargers, laptops, small video village setups and other compatible 230V loads. Its pure sine wave inverter output makes it a more appropriate option for sensitive electronic equipment than a basic conventional generator.
For production use, the HY6500SEi is most useful as a temporary location power source for smaller crews, remote exterior setups, unit base support, charging stations or productions running modern LED-based lighting packages. The control panel includes two 13A 230V sockets, one 32A 230V socket, 12V DC output and USB output, giving flexibility for different power-distribution arrangements.
The generator features electric key start, remote start and ECO mode, which adjusts engine speed to the applied load to improve fuel economy and reduce noise when full output is not required. Hyundai specifies a noise level of 65dB(A) at 7m on the product page, with the official manual also listing measured and guaranteed sound power levels.
As with all petrol generators, the HY6500SEi must only be operated outdoors in a well-ventilated area, positioned safely away from buildings, doors, windows, vents, cast, crew and flammable materials. The manufacturer’s manual warns against use in confined or poorly ventilated areas due to carbon monoxide risk.
For film production hire, this generator is best treated as a practical temporary power solution for smaller location requirements rather than a substitute for a full commercial towable generator package. Load planning, cable runs, earthing, RCD protection, weather protection, refuelling procedure and safe siting should always be considered before use.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION – Please Contact for Further Questions
Petrol/diesel generators must only be operated outdoors in a well-ventilated area. They must never be used indoors, inside vehicles, garages, warehouses, tents, marquees, corridors, basements, partially enclosed areas, or close to doors, windows, vents or air intakes. Generators produce carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and potentially fatal.
The hirer is responsible for the safe positioning, operation, supervision and protection of the generator throughout the hire period, including safe cable routing, weather protection, prevention of unauthorised access, noise considerations, refuelling safety, and compliance with any site-specific rules, permits, risk assessments or production health and safety requirements.
The generator must not be connected to fixed wiring, buildings, consumer units, distribution boards, domestic backup systems or any mains electrical installation unless this is planned, installed and approved by a competent electrician or temporary power specialist. The generator must not be modified, overloaded, bypassed, used with damaged cables, or operated contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Fuel is not supplied with this rental. Where the hirer supplies or handles fuel, they are responsible for lawful transport, storage and refuelling. Refuelling must only take place when the generator is switched off, cooled down, away from ignition sources, and in accordance with safe fuel-handling practice.
All generator hires are subject to approval. We reserve the right to refuse hire where the intended use, location, load requirements, access, weather conditions, ventilation arrangements or operator competence appear unsuitable or unsafe.
